Rond 1505 werd het eerste postkoetsstation in Luxemburg gevestigd in Asselborn. Het huis "A Post" - tegenwoordig een restaurant - verwijst daar nog naar.
De eerste postmeester daar was Jakob van Hesbeck uit Hoffelt.
In 1504 had Philips de Schone, erfgenaam van de Habsburgers, een zekere Del Tasso uit Italië laten komen, die de eerste post- en reisverbindingen tussen de verschillende hoofdsteden in het rijk van Philips moest opzetten.
De man liet zich later "Tassis" noemen, wat uiteindelijk de basis werd voor het woord 'taxi'.
Bij besluit van 5 november 1701 bepaalde de (nieuwe) Spaanse koning Philippe van Anjou dat de postroute via Asselborn niet langer gebruikt zou worden voor de verbinding tussen Nederland en Wenen. Voortaan werd de route Trier-Wecker-Luxemburg-Steinfort-Attert-Malmaison-Flamisoulle gebruikt. Dit omdat in alle plaatsen langs die route Franse garnizoens gelegerd waren, wat een betere controle en bescherming garandeerde.
Around the year 1505 the first stagecoach station in Luxembourg opened in Asselborn. The house "A Post" - nowadays a restaurant and a museum - still refers to that fact.

In a resolution of November 5, 1701, the new Spanish king Philip of Anou determined that the postal route over Asselborn was no longer to be used for the connection between Holland and Vienna. In future the route Trier-Wecker-Luxembourg-Steinfort-Attert-Malmaison-Flamisoulle was used. The decision was taken because French garnisons were present in all towns along the new route, which insured better surveillance and more safety.
