Tussen Kautenbach en Consthum lig, op een hoge heuvel en verscholen in de bossen, de Schüttbuerg. Omdat er voor zover bekend nooit een Heer van Schüttbuerg is geweest en er rond de burcht - in privé-bezit en niet toegankelijk - nauwelijks archeologisch onderzoek is gedaan, is er niet heel veel bekend over de oorsprong.
Waarschijnlijk werd hij gebouwd in de 14e eeuw, niet als woonhuis maar als een vestingbolwerk.
In 1576 werd er aan de noordkant van de burcht een woonhuis in renaissancestijl gebouwd. In 1936 werd er een jeugdherberg in gevestigd. In de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd de burcht fors beschadigd tijdens het Ardennenoffensief, maar in 1957 en in 1994 is hij grondig gerenoveerd.
Sinds 1997 is de Schüttbuerg in bezit van Fernand Feltgen, die er tot zijn dood mag wonen.
Between Kautenbach and Consthum, on a high hill and hidden in the woodlands, you can find the Schüttbuerg. Since there never were any "Lord of Schüttbuerg" and hardly any archeological research has been done at the site - private property and not accessible - the origin of the castle remains unclear.
It was probably built in the 14th century, not as a residence, but as bastion of a fortification.
In 1576 a residence in Renaissance style was built on the north side of the castle. In 1936 a youth hostel was established in it. In World War II the castle was severely damaged during the Battle of the Bulge, but it was thoroughly renovated in 1857 and in 1994.
Since 1997 Fernand Feltgen is the owner of the Schüttbuerg, with the right to stay there until his death.
