Oorspronkelijk hoorde het dorp Lasauvage bij de parochie van Differdange. Maar omdat de weg daarheen lang en slecht begaanbaar was, gingen de inwoners liever in het Franse Saulnes, vlak over de grens, naar de kerk. Daarom besloot de eigenaar van de hoogoven, graaf Fernand de Saintignon, op zijn kosten een kerk in het dorp te laten bouwen. De gemeenteraad ging in 1893 akkoord met de plannen.
De Saintignon nam de Franse architect Dax in de arm, en samen besloten ze de "Sainte Chapelle" uit Parijs als voorbeeld voor de nieuwe kerk te nemen. Er is dan ook sprake van een duidelijke gelijkenis met de Sainte Chapelle, zij het dat de kerk van Lasauvage een stuk kleiner is.
Opvallend detail van de kerk is verder, dat de heiligen die zijn afgebeeld op de glas-in-loodramen de gezichten van familieleden van De Saintignon hebben.
Originally the village of Lasauvage belonged to the parish of Differdange. But because the road to that town was long and hard-going, the inhabitants preferred to go to the church in Saulnes, just across the French border. So the owner of the steel mill, Count Fernand de Saintignon, decided to have a church built in the village, at his expense. The local council approved his suggestion in 1893.
De Saintignon hired the French architect Dax, and together they decided to use the "Sainte Chapelle" in Paris as the inspiration for the new church. And there is indeed a strong resemblance between the two churches, although the one in Lasauvage is much smaller.
Another interesting detail is the fact that the saints who are pictured in the stained glass windows, have the faces of family members of De Saintignon.
