Luxemburg jubelt. Want voor het eerst in de geschiedenis heeft een Luxemburgse film een Oscar gewonnen. "Mr. Hublot" kreeg de felbegeerde prijs in de categorie "korte animatiefilms".
Maar de vreugde is niet onverdeeld. Ook Frankrijk eist de Oscar op. "Mr. Hublot" is tenslotte een Luxemburgse/Franse co-productie. En zelfs België mengt zich in de strijd, want de hoofdpersoon in de film is een creatie van de Belgische beeldend kunstenaar Stéphane Halleux.
Maar voor Luxemburg is het duidelijk. De Oscar is "van ons". Want Zeilt Productions uit Mondercange is de hoofdproducent (73%), Laurent Witz schreef het script en was de regisseur, terwijl Alexandre Espigare "maar" co-regisseur was. En dus gaat het gouden beeldje voorgoed de annalen in als de eerste Luxemburgse Oscar ooit.
Luxembourg is cheering. For the first time in history a Luxembourgish movie has won an Oscar. "Mr. Hublot" was awarded the prestigeous prize in the categorie "short animated movies".
However, the joy is not undisputed. France claims the Oscar as well. "Mr. Hublot" is, after all, a Luxembourgish/French co-production. And even Belgium joins the battle, because the main character in the movie was created by the Belgium artist Stéphane Halleux.
But to Luxembourg the situation is clear. This is "our" Oscar. Zeilt Productions from Mondercange is the main producer (73%), Laurent Witz wrote the script and was the director, while Alexandre Espigare was "just" the co-director. And so the golden statue will go down in history as the first Luxembourgish Oscar ever.
