Dat de landbouwhogeschool destijds in Ettelbruck werd gevestigd, is geen toeval. Al eeuwenlang is de "Poort naar de Ardennen" het agrarische middelpunt van Luxemburg. De vruchtbare bodem in de valleien van maar liefst drie rivieren maakt landbouw en veeteelt tot een dankbare en kansrijke onderneming.
Het is dan ook niet zo vreemd dat de jaarlijkse "foire agricole" - de landbouwbeurs - in Ettelbruck gehouden wordt. Elke zomer laat alles wat ook maar enigszins met landbouw of veeteelt te maken heeft hier zien wat men in huis heeft. Van veevoer tot biologische kaas, van Ardenner paard tot reusachtige houtversnipperaar - alles is hier te vinden. Met speciale aandacht voor de harmonieuze samenwerking tussen agrariërs en natuurbeschermers.
De beurs werd in 1883 voor het eerst gehouden. Bij die eerste keer waren koning Willem III en koningin Emma aanwezig.
It isn't just a coincidence that the agricultural college was established in Ettelbruck. That city, the "Gate to the Ardennes", has been the agricultural centre of Luxembourg. The fertile soil of the valleys of three rivers turns agriculture and cattle industry into a productive and succesful business.
So it isn't very strange that the annual "foire agricole" - the agricultural exhibition - takes place in Ettelbruck. Every summer anyone who is in some way connected with agriculture or cattle breeding, shows their products. From fodder to biological cheese, from Ardennes horse to giant wood chipper - you can find anything you need here. With special attention to the harmonious cooperation between farmers and nature conservationists.
The exhibition was first held in 1883. At that occasion, King William III and Queen Emma were present.
