Echternach heeft niet alleen een basiliek, maar daarnaast ook nog een 'gewone' kerk. De Peter en Paul kerk is gebouwd op de restanten van een oude romeins kasteel. Waarschijnlijk stond hier rond de vijfde eeuw al een klein klooster, dat deel uitmaakte van de schenking van Irmina van Oeren aan Willibrord. De kerk zelf dateert uit de tiende eeuw en staat bekend als de oudste christelijke kerk in Luxemburg. Het stevige en solide gebouw vermengt romeinse, merovingische en gothische stijlen, mede dankzij de verbouwing in 1840.
Besided the basilica, Echternach also has a 'simple' parish church. The Peter and Paul church was built on the remains of an old roman castle. Probably there was a small abbey here in the fifth century, which was included in the gift from Irmina of Oeren to Willibrord. The present church dates from the 10th century and is believe to be the oldest christian sanctury of Luxembourg. The solid and imposing building shows a mix of roman, merovingian and gothic styles, thanks to several renovations and additions up till 1840.
