Midden in het stadspark van Luxemburg-stad staat Villa Louvigny. Tegenwoordig is hier het Ministerie van Gezondheid gevestigd, maar tot 1996 was het letterlijk een centrale plek in Europa. De villa - in 1871 gebouwd op de funderingen van het Fort Louvigny - werd in 1932 gehuurd en in 1936 gekocht door RTL.
In 1924 begonnen de broers François en Marcel Anen een radiozender in de Rue Beauomont in Luxemburg-stad. "Radio Luxembourg" werd in 1929 opgekocht door de Société luxembourgeoise d'études radiophoniques", dat vanaf 1932 de villa als hoofdkantoor en als studio gebruikte. In 1933 volgde de eerste radio-uitzending, in 1934 het eerste live verslag van de Tour de France en in 1954 werd RTL het eerste particuliere televisiestation in Europa.
Op 31 januari 1955 werd het eerste live televisieprogramma uitgezonden: een verslag van de militaire parade op de nationale feestdag.
De eerste uitzending in het Luxemburgs, "Hei Eilei, kuck elei" (Kom hier en kijk eens"), was jarenlang ook op de Nederlandse televisie te zien.
Twee keer werd het Eurovisie Songfestival in Villa Louvigny gehouden; in 1962 en in 1966.
In 1996 werd de villa verkocht en verhuisden hoofdkantoor en studio's naar een nieuw complex op Kirchberg.
In the middle of the municipal park in Luxembourg-city you can find Villa Louvigny. Nowadays it is the home of the Ministry of Health Care, but until 1996 it was more or less the "centre of Europe". The villa - built in 1871 on the foundations of Fort Louvigny - was rented in 1932 and bought in 1936 by RTL.

The first show in Luxembourgish, "Hei Elei, Kuck Elei" ("Come over and look here" was broadcasted in The Netherlands for several years.
Villa Louvigny has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 1962 and 1966.
In 1996 the villa was sold and the headquarters and studio's moved to a new building on Kirchberg.
