Ze werd geboren in 1955 in Differdange en heeft zichzelf het koken bijgebracht. In de mannenwereld van de chefkoks is ze al jarenlang een opvallend figuur. Ze had een eigen kookshow op de Duitse televisie en schreef talrijke receptenboeken. In 1989 kreeg ze als eerste - en tot nu tot enige - vrouw ter wereld de 'Bocuse d'Or', een gerenommeerde onderscheiding. Inmiddels heeft ze twee restaurants in Luxemburg. Haar 'Cuisinière' in Frisange heeft sinds 1987 een Michelin-ster. Daarnaast heeft ze nog een restaurant in het nabij gelegen Kayl, een delicatessenwinkel in Luxemburg-stad en een eigen wijngaard in Remich. Ze is bovendien ambassadeur van 'Île aux clowns', een organisatie die te vergelijken is met de Nederlandse cliniclowns.
